Happy Saturday to all of you fine folks out there.
Though, if I’m being honest, there’s a good chance no one is even reading what I post here. Sometimes it feels like the internet is dead, like we’re all just drifting through some strange digital void. Maybe we’re in the Matrix, and somewhere out there, some middle manager decided we’d get the worst possible version of reality. I was hoping for flying cars and self-tying shoes that didn’t cost an arm and a leg.
But here we are.
Work, as always, feels like a waste of time. I’m not going to lie, if I could get paid doing this, I would in a heartbeat. But you know what people say. It’ll never happen. Stop dreaming.
Still, the thoughts don’t stop.
Lately, I’ve been in a bit of a slump. Nothing serious, nothing heavy, just that quiet kind of uncertainty that creeps in when you’re trying to decide what comes next. I woke up this morning asking myself exactly that. What should I build next?
So there I was, staring at my setup. In one window, reruns of Code Monkeys playing in the background. In the other, a text file filled with scattered ideas, half-formed concepts, and fragments of something that could become real.
This time, I wanted to do something different. Something completely out there. Something that makes absolutely no sense. Picture a dragon flying overhead dropping pretzels. No rules, no expectations. Just pure, strange creativity.
After a trip to the dentist, of all things, I started narrowing things down. I landed on the idea of a simulator, something centered around harnessing steam in some way. I don’t have all the details yet, but it feels like the kind of idea that could grow into something interesting. The rest will come.
And then another idea crept in.
An American Civil War simulation.
Now that’s a concept with weight. Depth. Complexity. It’s the kind of project that could become something truly special. But it would also be a challenge. Building the engine alone would take time, patience, and a level of precision that won’t come easy.
Still, why not?
It could be something big. Something ambitious. Something worth chasing.
Yeah. To hell with it. It’s going on the list.
In the meantime, I’m working on something else. Something I’m keeping under wraps for now. I can’t say much about it. If word got out, it might tear the fabric of time and space apart. Everything could collapse.
Then again, maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
For now, I’ll leave it there.
I’m heading off into the sunset.
Or, more accurately, the Oregon Trail.
Until next time.
